A true honest place for your car...
I have been going to Dieter's for many years. I have never once had any
issues with them in terms of price, service and accountability. The
gentlemen I have spoken with have always been honest about services
needed and not needed. I made a mistake by going to a Jiffy Lube for a
quick oil change...figured what possible harm can that do? I ended up
leaving Jiffy Lube "needing a new oil pan" so I called Dieter's for a
second opinion and they had me come in and take a look at my car. The
problem was that the Jiffy Lube people stripped the plug/screw that
drains my oil! Now I had an oil leak! The mechanic, Martin, had a spare
part and replaced it at NO CHARGE!!! I still tipped him simply based on
the fact that they were honest. I will never go anywhere other than
Dieter's again. If you want honest mechanics Dieter's is the place to
go!

Years ago, my parents were loyal Dieter's customers--back when
Dieter ran it. Then, they bought Hondas and got rid of their VW Beetle
and, eventually, their VW Rabbit. And so, Dieter's fell off their
radar. I recently came back to Dieter's. The same people have been
running this shop for something like 30 years, and they've been
behaving with spectacularly scrupulous honesty and adherence to quality
that whole time. My parents' neighbor has an early-sixties VW Beetle
that she's been taking to them since (I think) it was new. And that Bug
is pristine.
My free-service warranty on my Mini Cooper just expired, and I needed
to get my 30,000 mile service. The dealership would have charged $1100.
Dieter's did the service in three hours for $229. They changed the
fluids, put the right brand synthetic oil in even though I forgot to
ask them to do it, and finished crazy-fast. I asked them about working
on non-German cars, and they said that they pretty much work on
anything under the sun now. If it's a particularly tough repair on a
non-German vehicle, they may refer it to another local shop, but (they
say) after fuel injection became the same in every car, they feel
comfortable for all but the most esoteric repairs. Now my folks can go
back to Dieter's with their Civics!

I've taken my Infiniti and my husband's Honda to Dieter's
for maintenance service. I felt Dieter's knew what they were doing and
gave me a reasonable price quote. Much better than the dealers who can
charge scary prices. I appreciated how the Dieter's team didn't push
any "extras" on me. I really liked their honesty. I felt our cars were
in very good hands and felt safe driving our cars home knowing that the
Dieter's team did thorough work.

Dieter's is a great shop. My wife and I have been getting
our cars maintained there for almost ten years and we remain customers
because they have always provided excellent and friendly service. They
have always been straightforward and upfront about what was needed to
maintain our vehicles. No surprises. Ask for Martin, he has helped us
out tremendously.

I have been a long-time customer of Dieter's in Menlo Park. I have
found them to always be honest and forthright in their dealings with me
about my car. They are great to work with and I do not feel that I have
ever been overcharged. I have recommended them to many people
throughout the years.
